Then add the second layer according to exposure: a west- or afternoon-facing wall that bakes and glares wants a proper blackout or a heavier dimming layer to keep the room usable and cool; a shaded or high-floor window overlooking nothing may only need a light dimming layer, or the sheer alone. The test is simple. Stand where the sofa will sit at the brightest time of day and take a photo on your phone.
