Living rooms are dry zones, so a TV wall is normally moisture-resistant board or plywood — cost-effective and the right choice here. The one thing to check is the edge case: a feature wall beside an open front door, a large window or an unshaded external wall can catch driven rain and humidity. Most feature walls mix the two, and the trade-off is simple. Open shelves look light and show off what you want seen — but in Sarawak's dust and humidity they need regular wiping, and clutter shows. Closed storage hides the mess, keeps dust off, and is where heat-producing gear should live. Cable concealment is decided before the wall is built, not after. The clean look comes from running cables inside the wall or through the cabinet, not from tidying them later. Let the AV cavity breathe让影音柜腔体透气

Routers, decoders, amplifiers and consoles all give off heat, and a sealed box traps it — which shortens their life and can trap smell. The cabinet that holds them needs airflow: a vented back, a gap above and below the gear, or a grille in the door. Don't fully seal the AV compartment the way you might a display cabinet. A feature wall is on show every day, so doors and drawers that drift out of line are obvious. Soft-close hinges and good runners are the baseline; on longer doors and heavier media drawers, an upgraded hinge or full-extension runner keeps things aligned and smooth over years of daily use.
